Taking control of your fitness is a great goal to have. However, people need to remember that to reach that goal, you must incorporate a few small habits to help you achieve those goals. It's not enough to go to the gym, work out, and be done with it. You need to focus on these six habits to progress in your goal.
Sleep Quality
The quality of your sleep is essential to achieving fitness goals. While you sleep, your body works hard to repair and rejuvenate your body so you wake up refreshed and energized. Whether you have fitness goals or not, you should aim to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night and focus on maintaining a consistent sleep schedule.
Strength Training
Focusing on strength training is crucial to reaching your fitness goals. Strength training builds muscle, increases metabolism and enhances overall physical performance. When you incorporate weightlifting or bodyweight exercises into your routine, you notice a difference in your overall health and wellness.
Hydration
Ensuring you're staying hydrated is also vital when it comes to fitness. Water helps regulate body temperature, lubricate joints, and transport nutrients throughout the body. Make sure to drink at least 2L of water daily, and more if you're engaging in rigorous exercise.
Daily Steps
Creating a step goal for yourself is a great way to increase physical activity throughout the day. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk during our lunch break, or park your car further away from your destination. We recommend having a goal of at least 8,000 steps a day.
Protein
Fueling with protein is essential for building and repairing muscle tissue. Incorporate protein-rich foods such as lean meats, fish, eggs, and plant-based sources like beans and tofu into your diet. It can sometimes be hard to get enough protein in the day, so supplements can help if you need help to meet your protein needs.
Leafy Greens
Having a big-ass salad is a delicious and nutritious way to take control of your fitness goals. Salads are rich in vitamins, minerals, and fibre, improving overall health and wellness. Load your salad with colourful veggies, lean protein, and healthy fats for a satisfying meal.
Taking control of your fitness goals requires consistent effort and dedication. However, the small changes to your habits will allow you to see the changes you want and be well on your way to achieving your fitness goals and living a healthier, happier life.
